Pilgrim’s Pride Poultry Recall for Foreign Material Updated

The recall of Pilgrim’s Pride poultry products on April 7, 2016 is being reissued to include more products and production dates. The products are being recalled because they may be contaminated with foreign materials, including plastic, wood, rubber, and metal. These products were sold for institutional use nationwide. Schools have purchased these products through the company’s commercial channels.

Gold Kist Chicken Nugget Recall

Several consumer complaints about contamination in chicken nuggets triggered the original recall. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.

The recalled products include Gold Kist Farms Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Nuggets Nugget Shaped Chicken Patties, Gold Kist Farms Fully Cooked Whole Grain Homestyle Breaded Strip Shaped Chicken Patties, Pierce Chicken Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Tenderloins, Gold Kist Farms Fully Cooked Whole Grain Homestyle Breaded Breakfast Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat, and Sweet Georgia Brand Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Tenderloins, among others. All of these products have the establishment number ‘EST. 20728″ inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were made between August 21, 2014 and March 1, 2016. The products may also have been sold through retail outlets, but the government isn’t sure. The total amount of recalled product is more than 4.5 million pounds, up from the original 40,000 pound recall.
