Publix Recalls Cranberry Nut and Seed Mix for Listeria

Publix Super Markets is recalling their cranberry nut and seed mix because it may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. There is zero tolerance for this bacteria in ready to eat foods. No illnesses have been reported to date, even though it may take more than two months for symptoms to appear.

Recall NoticeThe recalled product is prepackaged cranberry nut and seed mix in 7.05 ounce plastic containers. They were sold at Publix retail produce departments in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina. The UPC number isĀ 41415-34986 and use by dates are August 7, 2016 through August 30, 2016. Product has been removed from store shelves.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container, or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Then wash out your pantry, cupboards, or drawers wherever this product may have been stored with a solution of one tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to one gallon of warm water to kill any remaining bacteria.

Monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days if you ate any of this product. Those symptoms include severe headache, fever, neck stiffness, muscle ache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women can suffer miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature labor if they contract listeriosis, even though their symptoms are very mild. If you do feel sick see your doctor.
