Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Recalled for Listeria

RecallQuaker Quinoa Granola Bars are being recalled for Listeria. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness.

The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo Inc., issued the recall after it was notified by a supplier that sunflower kernels used to make the granola bars may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Most of the affected granola bars dis not reach store shelves. But some did. They were sold in 6.1 ounce boxes labeled Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Chocolate Nut Medley with UPC code 30000 32241 and Best Before Dates of: 10/16/2016, 10/17/2016; and 6.1 ounce boxes labeled Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Yogurt, Fruit & Nut with UPC 30000 32243 and Best Before Dates of: 10/10/2016, 10/11/2016.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, seniors and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms, which include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, can take as long as 60 days to develop.
