Simmons NRTE Chicken Products Recalled for Possible E. coli O121

Simmons Prepared Foods of Arkansas is recalling 5,850 pounds of frozen, heat treated, not ready to eat (NRTE) chicken products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O121. These products were made with recalled flour from General Mills that is linked to a multistate outbreak. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

These items were distributed to Arkansas for institutional use. They include 30 pound net weight case count containers containing six, 5-pound bags in clear film of “Simmons Uncooked Chicken Tenderloin Fritters,” with a case code 31473. The packaging code date is 6025, and the Use-by Date is 01/25/17. Also recalled is 30 pound net weight cases containing six, 5-pound bags in clear film of “Simmons Uncooked Chicken Breast Tenderloin Fritters,” with a case code 62331 and packaging date of 6025.

FSIS and the company are concerned that some these products may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. If you purchased these products, do not eat them and do not cook them. Throw them away in a sealed container or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
