Snow Monkey Goji Berry and Cacao Pods Recalled for Listeria

FMIF Holdings is recalling Snow Monkey Goji Berry and Cacao Pods because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall is dated November 23, 2016, but was just released yesterday. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Snow Monkey Subzero Superfood in Cacao in 8 ounce packages. It was delivered from online ordering between May and June 2016. The barcode reads “000000000000 Sample Only – Not for Resale.” Also recalled isĀ 8 ounce Snow Monkey Subzero Superfood in Goji Berry delivered from online ordering between May and June 2016. The barcode reads “000000000000 Sample Only – Not for Resale.”

These products were not sold at retail locations. They were distributed via online ordering in California, Missouri, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Hawaii, Oregon, Colorado, Washington D.C., Michigan, Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, and New Hampshire.

This recall was issued because Dr. Bob’s Ice Cream manufacturing plant made the products. The FDA found Listeria monocytogenes bacteria in that facility. Most of the pods were filled with a batch machine, and no Listeria was found on that machine. All other 8 ounce units sold in retail stores or online, outside of the May – June 2016 time frame are not at risk for contamination.

If you have either of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a sealed container. Wash your hands after handling these products. Clean out your freezer with a mild bleach solution, since Listeria bacteria can survive freezing temperatures.

If you ate these products and have experienced flu like symptoms, or headache, stiff neck, fever, nausea, abdominal pain, or diarrhea, especially if you are pregnant, see your doctor.
