Trader Joe’s Recalls Veggie Burgers for Listeria in Canada

Trader Joe’s is recalling Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burgers in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This is part of the CRF Frozen Foods recall for vegetable products in the U.S. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products, but there is a Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning outbreak in the U.S.

Trader Joe's Quinoa Veggie Burgers Recall

The recalled product is Trader Joe’s Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burgers in 12 ounce (340 gram) packages. The code on the product is BEST IF USED BY dates from 01/28/2018 to 04/20/2018, inclusively. The UPC number of the recalled product is 0053 2761. This product was sold at Pirate Joe’s, formerly located at 2348 West 4th Avenue in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Consumers may have this product in their homes. If you do, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Then clean out your freezer or refrigerator or wherever you stored the product with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes can grow at refrigerator temperatures, and freezing will not kill it. Wash your hands with soap and water after handling this product.
