Tyson Foods Recalls Chicken Nuggets for Possible Plastic

Tyson Foods is recalling about 132,520 pounds of fully cooked chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with plastic pieces. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of this product.

The recalled products are 5 pound bags containing “Tyson Fully Cooked Panko Chicken Nuggets” with a “best if used by” date of July 18, 2017. The case codes areĀ 2006SDL03 and 2006SDL33. Also recalled is 20 pound bulk packages containing “‘SPARE TIME’ Fully Cooked, Panko Chicken Nuggets, Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters with Rib Meat,” with a production date of July 18, 2016. The case code for that product is 2006SDL03. The products have the establishment number “EST. 13556” printed next to the “Best if Used By” date on the back. They were produced on July 18, 2016. The 20 pound cases were shipped for institutional use in Pennsylvania. The five pound bags were sold in retail locations nationally.

Consumer complaints about the foreign material contamination triggered this recall. The plastic ranged in size from 21 mm in length (about 3/4″) and 6.5 mm in diameter (about 1/4″). The pieces may have come from a round, plastic rod used to connect a plastic transfer belt.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
