Verano Mushroom Soup Recalled for Possible Botulism

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Raices Food Inc. is recalling Verano Food Purveyors brand Mushroom Soup because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Verano Food Purveyors Mushroom Soup in two sizes. The 500 ml size and 1 liter size is recalled. There is no UPC Number on the product. All codes up to an including XP July 19 are recalled. The soup was sold in Nova Scotia at the retail level.

The symptoms of botulism food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, blurred or double vision, dry mouth, respiratory failure, and paralysis. Food contaminated with this bacteria and the toxin it produces will not look, smell, or taste spoiled.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container or return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
