Weekly Food Recall Roundup: May 15, 2016

Here’s the weekly food recall roundup for the week ending May 15, 2016. There were still many recalls of foods containing frozen vegetables for possible Listeria contamination. There is an outbreak of listeriosis linked to recalled CRF Frozen Foods products. The secondary recalls continue to come in.

There were also many recalls of products containing sunflower seeds for Listeria contamination. There is no outbreak associated with those recalls.

Remember that if you bought any of these products recalled for Listeria, that you should clean out wherever the product was stored with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria. Listeria can grow at refrigerator temperatures, and freezing will not kill it. In addition, if you ate any of these recalled products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. It can take that long to get sick after exposure, but most people, if they do become ill, get sick within three to four weeks. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
