Whole Foods Recalls Pepperoni Pizza for Misbranding

Whole Foods is recalling 73,898 pounds of pepperoni pizza products because they are misbranded. The product is labeled as containing uncured beef pepperoni, but it contains uncured pork pepperoni that is not declared on the label. Some people have a sensitivity or intolerance to pork and may become ill if they eat this product. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been received to date.

Whole Foods Pizza RecallThe recalled items include 10-ounce vacuum-sealed packages of “Whole Foods Markets, Pizza, Pepperoni, 8”, and 19-ounce vacuum-sealed packages of “Whole Foods Markets, Pizza, Pepperoni, 12.” These fresh pizza items were produced January 5, 2015 through January 22, 2016. They have the establishment number “EST. 20234” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and sell by dates of January 12, 2015 through January 30, 2016. They were shipped for sale in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.

If you purchased these products and are allergic to pork, do not eat them. Throw them away or return to the store where you bought them for a refund.
