Wylwood Frozen Broccoli Recalled for Listeria Monocytogenes

Alimentos Congelados is voluntarily recalling 1,800 cases of Frozen Broccoli Cuts because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product, but listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, can take up to 70 days to appear.

WYLWOOD Broccoli Cuts Listeria RecallThe recalled product is WYLWOOD Fresh Frozen Broccoli Cuts in a 16 ounce package. The UPC number isĀ 5193300110, with bag codes of A25335P and A15335P. The State of Ohio Department of Agriculture tested the product and found it tested positive for Listeria. The company has ceased distribution of the product and is cooperating with federal agencies.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it, even if you plan on cooking it. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged container or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling this product, and clean out your refrigerator using a solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of warm water.

If you ate this recalled product, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include fever, chills, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women may only have a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, and a serious infection in the newborn. If you experience any of these symptoms, see your doctor and tell her you ate this recalled product.
