Food Poisoning Outbreak Associated With Rancho Bravo Tacos in Seattle, WA

King County Public Heath is investigating an outbreak of gastroenteritis with abdominal cramps and diarrhea associated with Rancho Bravo Tacos at 1001 East Pine Street on Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington. Four people from one party got sick soon after eating food at the restaurant on April 22, 2017. None of the patients was hospitalized.  The symptoms and timing of these illnesses suggest Bacillus cereus or Clostridium perfringens toxin. Those bacteria cause the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, and illness onset is very quick, usually within thirty minutes to a few hours. Lords Organics is recalling Ginger Powder from AGF Organic Veda because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The product was distributed through amazon.com online sales, delivered through the mail. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue. The product is Organic Veda's Ginger Powder with codes: Batch No: A324DGRP, MFD: AUG 2015, Best Before: July 2017 in 16 Oz clear jar with red color lid, manufactured by AGF Ltd. Dip Trio Mixes Recalled for Possible Salmonella Contamination

Phoenix Food of Texas is voluntarily recalling some Dip Trio Mixes for possible Salmonella contamiantion in the seasoning packet. A supplier recently recalled jalapeño powder that could contain Salmonella. No Salmonella has been found in the product supplied to Phoenix Food, but they are issuing the recall. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date. The Dip Trio Mix contains a dry mix packaged in a plastic barrier bag labeled “Jalapeno Bacon”. The bag is inserted into a red box entitled Dip Trio Mix. These specific lot codes: K110420161, K111220161 & K111120161, located on the top of the box, are on the products affected by this recall. Baraka Bakery Recalls Halal Ground Beef for Possible E. coli O157:H7

Baraka Bakery and Grocery in Nashville, Tennessee, is recalling an undetermined amount of ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 bacteria. There have been no confirmed reports of illnesses received to date in connection with this problem. The ground beef was sold to consumers from the firm's retail location in Tennessee. The Halal ground beef items were processed and packaged on dates from April 19, 2017 through April 26, 2017. The beef is butcher ground to order "Halal Ground Beef." CDC Study Looks at Restaurant Food Allergy Practices

As part of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report for the week of April 21, 2017, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published a study about food allergy practices in restaurants across the country. Food allergies affect about 15,000,000 people in this country and cause about 30,000 emergency department visits and 150 to 200 deaths every year. Almost half of the fatal food allergy reactions over a 13 year period were caused by food from a restaurant or other food service establishment. The report found that fewer than half of members of the restaurant staffs surveyed in 278 restaurants had received training on food allergies. Farming Fish Organic Basil Pesto Recalled for Listeria

Our Local Bounty of Rogue River, Oregon is recalling 312 containers of Farming Fish brand Organic Basil Pesto with Watercress because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. There is no word on whether or not any illnesses have been reported to date. The recalled product is Basil Pesto with Watercress in 8.5 ounce containers. It has the UPC number  7 23175 33586 8, and was distributed in retail stores in Oregon. The affected product has " enjoy or freeze by" dates of 4/30/2017, 5/6/2017, 5/13/2017, and 5/20/2017. Garcia and Ema’s Brand Sausage Products Recall

Uncle John’s Pride, LLC., based in Tampa, Florida, has issued a recall for many ready-to-eat smoked meat and poultry items. As reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), these products may be contaminated with extraneous metal materials. Approximately 139,909 pounds of the smoked meat and poultry sausage products were recalled after a metal magnet was discovered in a beef trim product used during production. This recall has been classified as a Class I / “High” Health Risk recall, signifying that people may become dangerously ill or die if they consume these products. Campbell Chicken Soup Brand Recalled for Undeclared Milk Allergen

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reports that Campbell Soup Company has recalled 4,185 pounds of its “Campbell’s Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken with Whole Grain Pasta” soup products because the soup may contain undeclared milk allergens. Campbell Soup Company is headquartered in Maxton, North Carolina. Campbell Soup Company issued this recall after April 20, 2017, when they were apprised of multiple consumer complaints that soup cans labelled as “Campbell’s Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken with Whole Grain Pasta” were accidentally filled with “Campbell’s Homestyle Health Request Italian-Style Wedding Spinach & Meatballs in Chicken Broth” soup. WFSP Foods Recalls Ready to Eat Chicken That May be Undercooked

WFSP Foods Inc of Alabama is recalling about 42,147 pounds of ready to eat chicken breast products that may be undercooked, which means bacteria could survive in the food. The firm received multiple consumer complaints that the product was undercooked, but there have been no confirmed reports of illness due to the consumption of this food. The recalled products are 9 pound foodservice cases containing 8 poly film packages of "CHEF’S LINE ALL NATURAL FIRE GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST" with product code 22586, produced on 04/07/17, and Best by date 06/14/17. Rich Products Pizza Dough Balls Recalled in Canada for E. coli O121

Rich Products of Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are recalling Pizza Dough Balls because of possible E. coli O121 contamination. This recall is related to the recall of Ardent Mills flours for the same bacterial contamination. There is no information about whether or not any illnesses have been associated with this issue. There is an outbreak in Canada linked to Ardent Mills flours. The pizza dough balls were sold to hotels, restaurants, and institutions. The recalled products are both Rich Products Corporation brand.
