Salmonella Outbreak in Canada Linked to Frozen Raw Breaded Chicken

Another Salmonella outbreak has been linked to frozen raw breaded chicken products; this time in Canada. This is not the first time illnesses have been reported connected to this type of product. In 2015, 15 people in seven states in America were sickened in an outbreak linked to Barber Foods frozen Chicken Kiev. Four of those patients were hospitalized. That same year, five people were sickened in the U.S. after eating frozen raw stuffed breaded chicken breasts produced by Aspen Foods. And in 2014, another Salmonella outbreak was linked to Barber Foods produced Antioch Farms raw stuffed breaded chicken breast. That outbreak sickened at least six people in several states. Health Warning About Salmonella in Pride & Joy Raw Milk

An advisory about Salmonella in Pride & Joy raw milk products has been issued by the Washington State Department of Health. They are advising consumers not to drink this milk because it could cause serious illness. Routine sampling by WSDA found Salmonella in bottled organic retina raw milk collected from the Pride & Joy Dairy. The product has a best by date of October 4, 2017. All sizes of containers are part of this issue. There are no reported cases of human illness associated with this product. Pride & Joy is refusing to recall the milk. This is not the first time this dairy's milk has been found to be contaminated wth pathogenic bacteria. In 2011, Shiga toxin-producing E. coli bacteria were found in Pride & Joy raw milk. Salmonella Outbreak Associated With Restaurant in Easton, MA

A Salmonella outbreak is being investigated in Eaton, Massachusetts, Ann Scales of the Massachusetts Department of Health told Food Poisoning Bulletin. The investigation began on Monday, September 25, 2017. The MDH is working with the Easton Board of Health to collect information to determine the source. The outbreak is associated with a restaurant. Other news outlets have mentioned the restaurant by name, but we will not do that until there is confirmation from a government source. Recall of RI Wang Sausage Products for Allergens Expanded

The USDA is expanding the recall of RI Wang Food Group sausage products for misbranding and undeclared allergens. About 63,823 pounds of heat treated but not fully cooked not shelf stable pork sausage and beef products are being recalled. The product contains milk, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. The recall has been expanded to include an additional 9,850 pounds of products that were produced from January 5, 2017 to June 29, 2017. The products are 25-pound institutional packs of "Beef Balls," "Pork Patty Balls," and "Beef Tendon Balls," with many different lot codes and package dates. Waterfront Bistro Tartar Sauce Recalled for Undeclared Egg

Silver Spring Foods is recalling Waterfront Bistro Tartar Sauce because an incorrect back label may have been used, which does not declare egg, one of the major food allergens, as an ingredient. No illnesses or reactions have been reported to date. The recalled product has best by dates of JUL 31 18 S3551 or AUG 28 18 S3351, and an incorrect UPC number of 21130 12242 (which belongs on Hot Cocktail Sauce). Ri Wang Food Meat and Fish Products Recall Updated

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is updating the recall of Ri Wang Food brand meat and fish products, now saying that they are being recalled for undeclared egg, milk, and soy, three of the major food allergens. The number of recalled products has significantly increased. You can see the list of recalled products at the CFIA web site. They are all Ri Wang Food brand, and include Cuttlefish balls, Fish Cake Cubes with Shrimp, Imitation Lobster Balls, and Imitation Shrimp Balls, among others. There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these products. If you bought them and cannot eat egg, milk, and/or soy, do not eat them. Ri Wang Food Sausages Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Canda Six Fortune Enterprise Co. is recalling Ri Wang Food brand Chinese Brand sausages because they contain milk that is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to milk and people with lactose intolerance should not eat these products. The recalled products are all Ri Wang Food brand, and all codes where milk is not declared 8 15655 01060 7. They include Chinese Brand Mini Bite size Sausage in 255 gram packages, with UPC number 8 15655 01060 7, Chinese Brand Mini Bite Sausage in 2.27 kg packages, with UPC number 8 15655 01089 8, and Chinese Brand Big Sausage with UPC number 8 15655 01088 1. Saber Grills Recalled for Fire and Burn Hazards

Saber Grills and LP regulators are being recalled for possible fire and burn hazards. The grill's LP regulator can allow gas to flow at a higher pressure than intended, which can result in a gas leak and flame burst from the burner knobs, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. Saber Grills has received 35 reports of regulators malfunctioning, including three reports of singed arms and two reports of burned or singed hair. FDA Updates King Soopers Chicken Sandwich Recall for Listeria

The FDA has updated the vague recall Kroger posted about King Soopers Deli Chicken Sandwich Listeria recall. The recall was posted on the Kroger website earlier this week. The sandwiches were sold in King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming. No confirmed reports of illness have been reported to date, but listeriosis can take 70 days to manifest. The recalled item is a prepackaged 6.8 ounce Deli Chicken Salad Sandwich sold in the deli department. The UPC number is 663209-02050 and the sell by dates are 9/20/17 through 9/28/17. Tasty Treats Nonpareils Recalled for Undeclared Milk

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that First Source, headquartered in Pico Rivera, California, has announced a recall of its “TASTY TREATS NONPAREILS MILK CHOCOLATE.” This milk chocolate product contains milk that was not listed on its ingredient statement; one person has already suffered an allergic reaction after eating the nonpareils. Distributed to Bristol Farms retail stores throughout the state of California between 12/20/2016 and 9/20/2017, the milk chocolate nonpareils were packaged in 5-ounce plastic pouches marked with the UPC code 7 97299 00476 4.
