Delallo, Dietz, & Private Selections Cheese Recalled for Listeria

Biery Cheese Company is recalling specialty Longhorn Colby cheeses for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The firm was notified by Deutsch Kase Haus that they supplied Biery with cheese that may be contaminated. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The cheeses include Delallo Premium Sliced Colby cheese in 8 ounce packages, with UPC number 0 72368 12452 0 and sell by date May 6, 2017. Also recalled is Delallo Premium Sliced Hot Pepper Cheese in 8 ounce packages, with UPC number 0 72368 12462 9 and sell by date May 6, 2017. Dietz & Watson Pasteurized Process New York State Cheddar Cheese with Jalapeno and Cayenne in 8 ounce packages is recalled, with UPC number 0 31506 79412 4 and sell by date May 6, 2017. Dietz & Watson Pepper Jack cheese in 8 ounce packages is also recalled, with UPC number 0 31506 79450 6 and sell by date May 6, 2017. Finally, Private Selections Hardwood Smoked Gouda Slice in 8 ounce packages is recalled. The UPC number for that product is 0 11110 60861 1 and the sell by date of 05/06/17.

These cheeses were sold between November 11, 2016 and January 4, 2017. They were distributed to centers in Georgia, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a sealed container or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund. Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria.

If you ate any of these recalled cheese, monitor yourself for the symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include fever, neck stiffness, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only have a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage or stillbirth. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
