Fresh, Uncooked Ham Recalled by Embutidos Fanguito for Misbranding and Undeclared Soy and MSG

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)”s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Embutidos Fanguito, Inc., based in Miami, Florida, has recalled approximately 454 pounds of its fresh sliced ham product, “Jamon Vicky Lasqueado Smoked Flavor Added Sliced Cooked Ham & Water Product.” This recalled fresh ham product was mislabeled as being cooked. Its labeling also failed to list that the ham contained the soy allergen and Monosodium Glutamate (MSG).

The recalled fresh sliced ham products were manufactured between April 18, 2017 and June 13, 2017 and distributed to locations throughout the state of Florida. Packaged in 8-ounce sealed packages containing six slices of ham, they bear the establishment number “EST. 45659” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

This recall is classified by the USDA / FSIS as a “Class I” (High Risk) recall, which means that “this is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.” Consumers who have bought this product should throw it away or return it to its place of purchase for a refund.Fresh Ham Recall
