Fusia Szechuan Stir Fry Recalled for Listeria

Versa Marketing of California is recalling 4,089 cases of Fusia Szechuan Stir Fry because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Testing by the State of Florida found the pathogenic bacteria in the product. The company has ceased distribution of the product. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue, but listeriosis can take up to 70 days to appear.

The recalled product is Fusia Szechuan Stir Fry in 21 ounce (595 gram) packages. The UPC number is 041498-178864 and the best by date is 6-14-18. It was distributed in poly bags in a multi-pack. It was sold only in Aldi stores.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a secured garbage can or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund. Then clean out your fridge with a mild bleach solution, since Listeria bacteria can survive at temperatures below 40°F and freezing does not kill it.

If you ate this product, even if you cooked it first, monitor yourself for the symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning for the next 70 days. Those symptoms can include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only be mildly ill, but this illness can cause miscarriage, premature labor, and stillbirth. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
