Poultry and Beef Products Recalled by Golden Platter Foods Inc. for Undeclared Milk Allergen

Almost 31,670 pounds of poultry and beef products have been recalled by Golden Platter Foods Inc., based in Newark, New Jersey. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), this “Class I” recall arises from the discovery that these products may contain the milk allergen – a fact not noted on the product packaging.

On June 6, 2017, Golden Platter Foods was informed by one of its suppliers that the batter and cracker meal they use in preparing these food products might contain undeclared milk allergens. The company subsequently has recalled the following products:

  • 20-pound bulk cases of “Golden Platter HALAL Fully Cooked BEEF MEAT BALLS” (case code: 12012)
  • 10-pound bulk cases of “Golden Platter HALAL Fully Cooked CHICKEN NUGGETS Breaded Nugget Shaped Patties” (case code: 21020H)

  • 10-pound bulk cases of “Golden Platter Fully Cooked Breakfast Style Turkey Patties” (case code 18610).

The products listed above are all are stamped with the establishment number “EST. 8813” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were distributed to institutional and retail locations in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

A “Class I” recall (“High Health Risk”) means that eating these products may cause life-threatening illness in those who are allergic to specific ingredients. People who are allergic to milk are advised to return these products to the store for a full refund or to throw them away.Undeclared Milk in Golden Platter Products
