Some Whole Foods Stores Recall Tarts for Undeclared Almonds

Whole Foods Markets in Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and the District of Columbia are recalling tarts that contain almond flour not declared on the label. Anyone who is allergic to almonds, or tree nuts, could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. No reactions or illnesses have been reported to date.

Not all of these products were sold in all stores. They were packaged in cardboard containers with Whole Foods Market labels and best by dates of January 7, 2017 and earlier. These products have been removed from store shelves.

The recalled products are Peanut Butter Chocolate Tart with UPC numbers 22024600000, 22061300000, and 22061400000; Small Lemon Tart with UPC number 23143000000, 4″ Key Lime Tart with UPC number 23144500000, and Small French Apple Tart with UPC number 24982800000. Also recalled is Large Chocolate Ganache Tart with UPC number 24977900000, Small Chocolate Ganache Tart with UPC number 24978300000, Large Fresh Berry Tart with UPC number 24983000000, and Small Fresh Berry Tart with UPC number 24983100000. Finally, Large Fresh Fruit Amero Shell Tart with UPC number 24984100000 is recalled, along with 4″ Fruit Tart with UPC number 24985200000, 9″ Key Lime Tart with UPC number 24988900000, 4″ Key Lime Tart with UPC number 24989600000, and 8″ Large Lemon Tart with UPC number 24991000000.

If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to almonds, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.
