Whole Foods Recalls Chicken Soup for Undeclared Allergens

Kettle Cuisine is recalling 3,096 pounds of chicken soup for misbranding and undeclared allergens. The label says “chicken soup,” but the product is actually Italian wedding soup with meatballs. This soup contains eggs, milk, and wheat, three of the major food allergens, that are not declared on the label. Anyone who is allergic to those ingredients, or who is lactose intolerant or has celiac disease could have a serious reaction if they eat this product.

The recalled product is 24 ounce cups containing “Mom’s Chicken Soup” with a use by date of 02/17/17. It was produced and packaged on January 3, 2017. The soup has the establishment number “P-18468” inside the USDA mark of inspection. This product was sold at Whole Foods Markets in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.

If you purchased this product and cannot eat eggs, milk, and/or wheat, do not consume it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a refund. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.
