Yoso SoyGo Soy Products Recalled in Canada for Listeria

Flamaglo Foods Ltd. is recalling Yolo brand soygo fermented cultured soy products for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. There have been no reports of illness to date in relation to this issue, but listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, can take up to 70 days to manifest.

These products were sold in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. They are all Yoso brand products, all sold in 440 gram containers, and all have codes 17 MA 19 d5. They include Soygo Fermented Cultured Soy – Plain with UPC number 8 34914 00231 3; Soygo Fermented Cultured Soy – Raspberry with UPC number 8 34914 00235 1; Soygo Fermented Cultured Soy – Vanilla with UPC number 8 34914 00234 4; and Soygo Fermented Cultured Soy – Blueberry with UPC number 8 34914 00232 0.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Take them back to the place of purchase, or throw them away in sealed containers so other people can’t access them.

You should then clean out your fridge with a mild bleach solution, since Listeria bacteria can grow at temperatures below 40°F. Wash your hands well after handling these products.

If you ate these products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Symptoms include severe headache, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, neck stiffness, and nausea. Pregnant women are especially at risk, since listeriosis can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature labor, and infection in the newborn. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
