Siluriformes Fish Products Recalled for Misbranding and Undeclared Milk

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reports that Channel Fish Processing Co., Inc., headquartered in Boston, MA, has issued a Class I recall of 840 pounds of its breaded Swai (Vietnamese catfish) products. These products may contain undeclared milk allergens. Like many recent recalls by diverse manufacturers of breaded fish and chicken products, this recall was prompted after a supplier alerted FSIS on June 14, 2017 that the product’s breaded coating might contain milk. Milk is not reported on the swai products’ ingredients label or allergy statement. Chicken Tenders and Breaded Dark Meat Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Advance Pierre Foods, Inc., located in Portland, Maine, has recalled over 54,690 pounds of its chicken tenders and breaded dark meat chicken products. As reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), this Class I recall was issued because the chicken may the milk allergen, undeclared on the product labeling. The chicken products affected by the recall, “CHICKEN TENDERS SEA SALT AND GROUND PEPPER” and “PREMIUM ENTRÉE TRADITIONAL SAGE RAW BREADED DARK MEAT CHICKEN” were distributed in the states of California, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. California Sun Dry Foods Recalls Tomato Pesto for Undeclared Allergens

“California Sun Dry Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto” has been recalled by its manufacturer, California Sun Dry Foods. According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, this product was mislabeled: the labels on certain lots do not declare the presence of almond and milk allergens. The error was discovered when a California Sun Dry Foods employee noticed the flawed label while merchandising the product at a grocery store. Beef Chile Colorado Frozen Meals Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Blount Fine Foods, Corp. has announced a recall of more than 8,600 pounds of its “Beef Chile Colorado” frozen meals because of erroneous labelling. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the company’s packages labeled as “Beef Chile Colorado” actually contain cheese enchiladas containing milk – a dangerous allergen for those who are susceptible to it. Blount Fine Foods is headquartered in McKinney, Texas. The recall affects “Beef Chile Colorado” frozen meals that were produced on Nov. 23, 2016. Blount Fine Foods shipped them to distribution centers located in Texas and Pennsylvania. Campbell Chicken Soup Brand Recalled for Undeclared Milk Allergen

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reports that Campbell Soup Company has recalled 4,185 pounds of its “Campbell’s Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken with Whole Grain Pasta” soup products because the soup may contain undeclared milk allergens. Campbell Soup Company is headquartered in Maxton, North Carolina. Campbell Soup Company issued this recall after April 20, 2017, when they were apprised of multiple consumer complaints that soup cans labelled as “Campbell’s Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken with Whole Grain Pasta” were accidentally filled with “Campbell’s Homestyle Health Request Italian-Style Wedding Spinach & Meatballs in Chicken Broth” soup. Soylent 1.8 Power Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Soylent, based in Los Angeles, California, has issued a recall for 890 boxes of “Soylent 1.8 Powder,” according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This product may contain milk, which was undeclared on the package’s labeling. Soylent explained in its voluntary recall that a small amount of whey powder, which contains the milk allergen, may have been accidentally added to one production lot of the Soylent powder during the manufacturing process at a third-party production facility. 890 boxes (containing 7 x 15-ounce pouches) of the compromised nutrient powder were shipped to 610 customers. Clancy’s Snack Combo Recalled by Olde York for Undeclared Milk Allergen

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that Olde York has issued a recall for one lot of its Clancy’s Snack Combo because the product may contain undeclared milk allergens. This lot was distributed to Aldi stores in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Olde York is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After a consumer alerted the company about discovering Nacho Tortilla Chips in two 1-ounce Barbecue Potato Chips bags, the company investigated the issue. It ascertained that an isolated breakdown in its cleaning process had caused the error, and issued the recall. Reser’s Macaroni Salad Recalled for Undeclared Allergens

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has alerted consumers that Reser’s Fine Foods, Inc., headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, has issued a voluntary recall for 529 cases of its 16-ounce “Reser’s Macaroni Salad.” These products contain two allergens, milk and soy, which are not listed on the packages’ labelling. For those who are allergic to these allergens, consuming this macaroni salad may result in serious illness or a potentially fatal allergic reaction. The 16-ounce plastic containers of the affected product are stamped with a “Use By” Date of April 24, 2017 on the edge of the lid. Lidia’s Marinara Sauce Recalled Due to Undeclared Milk

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that Nonna Foods, based in Woodbury, New York, has recalled its “Lidia’s Marinara Sauce” product because it may contain undeclared milk allergens. According to the FDA, the mislabeling occurred when 750 jars of “Lidia’s Vodka Sauce,” which contains milk, were inaccurately packaged with the “Lidia’s Marina Sauce” labels. “Lidia’s Marinara Sauce” itself does not contain milk. The milk allergen-containing vodka sauce was packaged in 25-ounce glass jars with metal lids. The affected jars are stamped with a “Best By Date” of June 13, 2019 on the neck of the jar; the UPC code, located on the back of the jar below the “Nutrition Facts” panel, is: 897712001018.
