Another Allergy Alert Issued for Kupiec Rice Cakes

J&B European Distribution of New York is recalling 40 cases of Kupiec brand Rice Cakes with Dark Chocolate because they may contain undeclared milk. Those who are allergic to milk could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat this product. One person in the Chicago, Illinois area has reported an illness; that is not in the J&B European distribution area. Markpol Distributors, which issued an allergy alert and recall earlier this week, does distribute to the Illinois area.

The problem was caused by inadvertent omission on the label by the producer during a packaging revision. The product is Kupiec brand Rice Cakes with Dark Chocolate in 3.1 ounce (90 gram) packages. They were distributed to retail outlets in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania and to one retail location in North Carolina. The product was shipped between 6/24/2014 and 7/23/2014. The UPC number is 5 906747 171742. It’s packaged in a white oval plastic package with a picture of a stack of the rice cakes. There was six rice cakes in each package. The product was imported from Poland.

If you purchased this product and you are allergic to milk, do not eat it. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a full refund.
