In Canada, More Cheese Recalled for Staphylococcus

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Fromagerie Le Détour are recalling Sentinelle cheese, Le Verdict d’Alexina cheese, and Grey Owl cheese because it may be contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin. No illnesses have been reported relating to the consumption of these products.

The recalled Sentinelle is surface ripened soft goat cheese in various size containers. It is lot number 04 with no UPC number. The cheese may have been sold in smaller packages, cut, and wrapped by some retailers. If you are unsure if you purchased it or not, ask your retailer. It was sold in Quebec.

Sentinelle Goat Cheese Recall

Le Verdict d’Alexia surface ripened soft cheese is recalled, in 110 gram packages. The UPC number is 8 31546 60075 7 and it was produced 2014MA05. The best before date is 2014JL04. Also recalled is Le Verdict d’Alexina surface ripened soft cheese in various sizes, with no UPC number. The lot numbers are 11,  and 11 14 05 05. Finally Grey Owl surface ripened soft cheese is recalled. It was sold in various containers with no UPC number, and lot numbers 19, and 19 14 05 05. It was sold in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and possibly nationally at the retail level. You can see pictures of the recalled products at the CFIA web site.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Discard in a closed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
