Giant Eagle Recalls Irish Soda Bread for Undeclared Milk

Giant Eagle is recalling Irish Soda bread because it contains milk, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. The bread was baked and sold inside Giant Eagle supermarket between February 24 and March 11, 2015. Those with an allergy to milk could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat this product.

RecallThe recalled product has a UPC of 20761800000 and a package size is 16 ounces. It was sold to about 2,000 customers in Giant Eagle and Market District supermarkets in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia.

One customer was made ill by this product. The label for the Irish Soda bread, which does mention milk, does not include milk on the allergen statement.

If you purchased this product and are allergic to milk, do not eat it. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund. If you are not allergic to milk the product is safe to eat.
