Food Poisoning Outbreaks in the U.S.

There are hundreds of Food poisoning outbreaks in the United States each year, most of them unreported. We want to change that. If you know of a food poisoning outbreak, contact Fred Pritzker, the publisher of this food safety news site and an attorney. You can talk with him for free. Most food poisoning victims do not know that they have the right to sue for compensation.

The major pathogens that cause food poisoning include: Campylobacter jejuni (bacterium that causes campylobacteriosis), Clostridium botulinum (bacterium that causes botulism), E. coli (bacterium, often O157:H7), Listeria monocytogenes (bacterium that causes listeriosis), norovirus (virus), Shigella (bacterium that causes shigellosis), Salmonella (bacterium that causes salmonellosis).
