ZIP International Group LLC Expands Alert on Sliced Herring

ZIP International LLC is expanding its January 11, 2012 alert and recall on sliced herring (forelka). The herring may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.  Routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors found the product was positive for the bacteria.

The original recall:

  • Sliced herring fillet (Forelka)
  • 330 gram plastic containers
  • 600 gram plastic containers
  • Code date of “Best Before 03/06/2012”
  • Sold in the New York Metropolitan area

The updated recall is also for the sliced herring fillet in 330 gram and 600 gram packages, but with a best by date of 5/18/2012. This product was also sold to retail grocery stores in New York State.
