In Canada, Ballarini Gorgonzola Cheese Recalled for Listeria

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers not to consume Ballarini brand Gorgonzola cheese because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The cheese was imported from Italy by Jan K Overweel Ltd. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

The cheese is Ballarini Gorgonzola D.O.P. Cremaverde, sold in 4 x 1.5 kg. packages (random weight). The codes on the product are JKO Code: ZAN03012, and best before dates are 9/19/13 (PO# 28063), 9/6/13 (PO# 27951), and 8/15/13 (PO# 27678). The UPC number starts with 2724118.

Some products may have been cut and wrapped by retailers and sold in smaller packages. If you are not sure if the cheese you purchased is part of this recall, contact your grocer.
