Salmonella Peanut Butter, Almond Butter Recall, Illnesses Reported

Peanut Butter and almond butters are being recalled for potential Salmonella contamination. Four illnesses have beeb reported. nSpired Natural Foods Inc., made the nut butters which were sold under a variety of brand names including Arrowhead Mills Peanut Butters, MaraNatha Almond Butters,  Kroger, Safeway, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods  365.

RecallThe products were distributed in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, and Dominican Republic. The were also sold over the internet. To view a complete list of recalled products click the link above.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, seniors and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy people who contract Salmonella infections have symptoms such as fever, diarrhea that can be bloody, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
