Izzie Macs, Baby Bruddah Macadamia Nut Products recalled for Salmonella

macadamia-nut-salmonellaMahina Mele Farms is recalling Izzie Macs! Macadamia nuts and Baby Bruddah brand nut butter for Salmonella. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them.

Salmonella causes serious, sometimes fatal illness. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In some cases, where the bacteria moves to the bloodstream, more severe illnesses can occur such as arterial infections and endocarditis.

The recalled products were  distributed to retail stores in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Maryland, and Virginia from Oct 21- Nov 25, 2015 and have on of  three lot numbers:026, 027, 029. They include: Izzie Macs! Macadamia Nuts in 6 oz bags with UPC 689076792677 or 689076793575; Izzie Macs! Macadamia Nuts in 16 oz bags with UPC 689076792776 or 689076792974;  Baby Bruddah’s Mac Nut Buttah in 12 oz plastic tubs with UPC 753182242019 or 73518224204 and bulk macadamia nuts in 5 lb bags.

At the time of the recall,  no illnesses had been reported in connection with these products.
