Wegmans Recalls Chicken Produced Without Inspection

Wegmans Food Markets is recalling 1,125 pounds of chicken products that were produced without federal inspection. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions or illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

Wegmans Recalled Chicken ProductsThe recalled products were made on January 3, 2016. They were sold in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The recalled products are 1 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/24/2016. Also recalled is 1 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/15/2016, and 3 pound vacuum sealed packages containing “Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster” with a use-by date of 1/13/2016. Finally, 1 pound vacuum sealed packages containing “Wokery Sherry Chicken 27482” with a use-by date of 1/13/2016 are recalled. You can see pictures of product labels at the USDA web site.

The problem was discovered by FSIS inspectors during a review of establishment records. The facility changed their production schedule, making these products outside the approved hours of operation.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
