Member’s Mark Natural Chunk Chicken Recalled for Foreign Material

Tony Downs Food Company of Madelia, Minnesota, is recalling about 96,384 ponds of chicken products that may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically hard plastic. The thermally processed, commercially sterile canned chunk chicken breast items were produced on November 28 and November 29, 2017. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. If anyone is concerned about an injury they should contact a healthcare provider.

The recalled products are 12.5 ounce cans in a case containing 6 cans of “Member’s Mark PREMIUM Natural Chunk CHICKEN BREAST IN WATER” with lot code 17333, case code 9816 and a use-by date of November 29, 2020; and 50 ounce cans in a case containing 6 cans of “Member’s Mark FOOD SERVICE PREMIUM Natural Chunk CHICKEN BREAST IN WATER” with lot code 17332, case code 9817 and a use-by date of November 28, 2019. These products have the establishment number “P-65” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail stores nationwide.

The problem was discovered on March 27, 2018, after two consumer complaints. The customers complained about the extraneous material in the product after opening the cans.

If you bought these products, don’t eat them. Throw them away in a sealed container in a secure garbage can, or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.

FSUS will conduct effectiveness checks to make sure that the firm is notifying customers of the recall. They also want to make sure that the firm takes steps to make sure that consumers can no longer buy this product.
