Outshine Frozen Fruit Bars are being recalled for possible contamination with foreign material, more specifically pieces of glass. This poses a tooth injury, mouth injury, choking, and GI tract injury hazard. No injuries have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these products. The recalling firm is Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream of Oakland, California.

These frozen fruit bars were distributed at the retail level nationwide. You can see the large numbers of batch codes and best before date pairs at the FDA web site. The UPC numbers for these products are below the pictures of the product labels.
The recalled products are all Outshine brand. The flavors include Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine, and Black Cherry that are packaged in 6-count boxes, with each bar weighing 2.5 ounces. The Outshine 24-Count variety pack, with 2.5 ounce bars, is also included in the recall. No other Outshine products or varieties are affected by this recall.
Dreyer’s is taking this action out of an abundance of caution following reports of consumers finding glass in the products. Please check to see if you have any of these products with those UPC numbers, batch codes, and best before dates in your freezer. If you do have them, do not eat them.
You can throw the bars away in a secure garbage can with a tight fitting lid, after first wrapping or double bagging them so other people can’t see them, or you can take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
