Wise Wife Ground Cinnamon Recalled For Elevated Lead Levels

Wise Wife ground cinnamon is being recalled for elevated lead levels. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of this product. The recalling firm is SLR Food Distribution of Hicksville, New York.

There is no safe level of lead consumption. Short-term exposure to very low levels of lead may not cause any symptoms. Increased blood lead levels may be the only apparent sign of lead exposure. Additional signs and symptoms are more likely with acute exposure to higher levels of lead or chronic exposure. While lead can affect nearly every bodily system, its effects depend upon the amount and duration of exposure, as well as the age and body weight of the individual. If a child is exposed to enough lead for a prolonged period of time, such as weeks to months, permanent damage to the central nervous system may occur. This can result in learning disorders, developmental defects, and other long-term health problems.

The recalled product is Wise Wife ground cinnamon that is packaged in a 3.88 ounce clear plastic container with a black screw top cap. The UPC number that is stamped on the product’s back label is 0688474302754. And the best before date is April 25, 207. The cinnamon was sold at the retail level in the states of Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin between September 8, 2025, and June 28, 2026.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it and do not use it in cooking. You can throw it away in a secure trash can after first double bagging it so other people can’t see it, or you can take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
