Chicken Salads Recalled Because of Listeria Scare

Bost Distributing Company, doing business as Harold Food Company of Bear Creek, North Carolina, is recalling about 1,200 pounds of chicken salad products. The salads contain hard-cooked eggs that are recalled because they are part of a recall by Michaels Foods Inc. and may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Product details:

  • 30-pound boxes of “Harold Food Co. Grand Strand Deluxe Chicken Salad”
  • “Sell-by” date of 2/15/2012
  • Establishment number “P-20479” inside the USDA mark of inspection
  • Salads sent to a distributor in South Carolina for further distribution to retail outlets in North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • May have been repackaged as sandwiches under a brand name other than Harold Food Co. In that case they would no longer have the identifying information above.

There have been no reports of illness associated with the consumption of these products.  If you have questions, contact Jeff Bennett at 1-919-775-5931. When available, the retail distribution list will be posted in the FSIS website at: www.fsis.usda.gov/FSIS_Recalls/Open_Federal_Cases/index.asp.
