Ground Beef Recalled for Salmonella in Canada

Just a few weeks after the huge New Food Classics ground beef recall, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is issuing a health hazard alert for another company’s ground beef. This time, the bacteria is Salmonella.

  • Intercity Packers Ltd. brand
  • Beef Burger Meat Mix 80/20
  • 5 kg cases
  • Each case contains two 2.5 kg units
  • UPC number 90066172180172
  • Lot code 046
  • Establishment number 503
  • Chubs inside the case have no label
  • Distributed to public and commercial food establishments in Ontario and Newfoundland
  • Possibly distributed to retailers in Newfoundland

Customers in Newfoundland are being told to check with the place of purchase to see if the ground beef they purchased is part of the recall.

Public health authorities are investigating a Salmonella outbreak in southern Ontario and in Ottawa that may be connected to this recall.
