More Jaggery Candy Recalled for Lead

In addition to the recall of jaggery candy on February 12, 2012, California health departments are recalling another brand of the candy imported from India because it also contains too much lead. The recalling firm is Nuts & Spice Company of Union City, California.

Product details:

  • HB Brand Rewari Gur-Flat Jaggery candy
  • Sold in a clear plastic package containing flat, light brown oval candies with seeds
  • Net weight of 800 grams (28 ounces)
  • Red label in the center of the package
  • “HB” is at the top of the label in a yellow background
  • “Rewari Gur-Flat (Jaggery Candy)” is in the center of the label

Any consumers who have this candy should discard it immediately. If you find this candy for sale, contact the California Department of Health Complaint Hotline at 1-800-495-3232.
