RSW Distributors Recalling Diced Beef Products

RSW Distributors in Forest City, North Carolina is recalling 3,104 pounds of seasoned diced beef products that might contain foreign materials. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall today.

The product details include:

  • Cases containing four 8-pound vacuum-sealed pouches
  • Pouches are 10″ x 22″
  • Marked “Seasoned Cooked Beef (Diced) Manufactured by Culinary Standards”
  • “EST. 8318” is marked inside the USDA mark of inspection
  • Cases marked with the USDA Process Control Certification Program seal
  • Produced on December 9, 2011

The products were part of the USDA’s National School Lunch Program. They were shipped to institutions for distribution to schools in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

A conveyor belt was damaged during production, which caused the contamination. The beef may contain small pieces of the broken belt. The food was originally held according to FSIS orders, but were shipped later by mistake.

There have been no reports of complaints, illness, or injury from consumption of the beef at this time. If you have questions, please call Pam Higgs at 1-800-778-3434, extension 22.
