Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea Tuna Recalls Expanded

The recall of certain types of Bumble Bee and Brunswick canned tuna has been expanded. The recall was issued because the seal on the cans is not tight enough. Bacteria could enter the can and grow on the product. There have been no reports to date of any illness associated with these products.

The products recalled are Brunswick brand 5 ounce chunk light tuna in water sold in different sized cases, Bumble Bee 5 ounce chunk light tuna in water in different sized cases, Bumble Bee 5 ounce chunk light tuna in vegetable oil sold in different sized cases, and Bumble Bee 5 ounce chunk white albacore tuna in water in different sized cases. The products were distributed nationwide for sale between january 17, 2013 and March 6, 2013. Chicken of the Sea is expanding its recall to include Chicken of the Sea 5 ounce chunk light tuna in oil. The previous recall was just for chunk white tuna in water. It was sold nationwide in single cans between January 23, 2013 and March 6, 2013. The UPC number is 0 48000 00195 5 and the best by date is 01/15/17.
