Green Day Dried Coconut Recalled for Undeclared Sulfites

Domega NY International is recalling Green Day Brand Dried Coconut because it contains undeclared sulfites. Those with a severe sensitivity to sulfites may have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product.

THe product comes in a 3 ounce (85 gram) clear plastic bag with code Exp 12/15/2014. The UPC number is 6 950296 800744. The product, made in China, was sold in the New York metropolitan area. The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors revealed the presence of sulfites.

The consumption of more than 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving can cause severe reactions, including anaphylactic shock, in some people with asthma. No illnesses have been reported to date.
