Hunt’s Tomato Sauce Recalled for Can Defect

ConAgra Foods is recalling specific lots of 8 ounce Hunt’s Tomato Sauce that were packaged oni cans that had a defect in the inner lining. There is no food safety issue with this defect, but the can could swell and the product “spurt out” when it’s opened.

Recall SignRecalled products include Hunt’s Tomato Sauce in 8 ounce cans with best if used by dates of JUL 23 2014, JUL 24 2014, AUG 29 2014, AUG 30 2014, and OCT 08 2014. Also recalled are Hunt’s Tomato Sauce No Salt Added in 8 ounce cans. That product has best if used by dates of JUL 23 2014, AUG 29 2014, OCT 07 2014, and OCT 08 2014. The dates are stamped on the top or bottom of each can. The products were shipped to U.S. food stores and distributors in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
