George’s Frozen Chicken Products Recalled for Undeclared Allergens

George’s Inc. of Arkansas is recalling 1.25 million pounds of frozen pan-fried chicken tender products for misbranding and undeclared allergen. The products are made with wheat, one of the major food allergens, not declared on the labels. No reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of this product has been reported.

Important RecallThe recalled products are 10 pound cases of “George’s Uncooked Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins” with Case Code 4831 and packaging dates between February 21, 2013 and December 29, 2013. Also recalled are 10 pound cases of “George’s Uncooked Chicken Tenderloin Fritters” with Case Code 4861 and packaging dates between February 21, 2013 and January 4, 2014. Finally, 10 pound cases of “George’s Uncooked Chicken Tenderloin Fritters” with Case Code 4880 and packaging dates between February 21, 2013 and July 19, 2013 are recalled. All products have the establishment number “P-13584” under the USDA mark of inspection.

The products were distributed to institutional users nationwide. The problem was discovered during a routine label review conducted by the company. Isolated printer issues were the problem.
