Real Foods Recalls Chef Salad with Ham and Turkey for Misbranding

Real Foods of Washington is recalling about 308 pounds of Chef Salad with Ham and Turkey for misbranding and undeclared allergens. The product contains anchovies, or fish, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. Anyone with an allergy to fish could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat this product. No reports of allergic reactions have been received to date.

Chef Salad RecallThe problem was discovered by a customer. The product has a label for “Ranch dressing”, but instead contains a Caesar Salad dressing pouch, which contains the anchovies.

The recalled product is 12.5-ounce clear plastic containers of “Chef Salad with Ham (Water Added) and Turkey.” it was produced on December 6, 2014. The product has the establishment number “34834” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a “sell by” date of 12/11/2014 printed on the label. It was sold in retail outlets in Oregon and Washington.

If you have purchased this product and are allergic to fish, do not eat it. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
