Beef Trachea Pet Treats Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Pet International of Florida is recalling 1500 units of 6″ Beef Trachea Pet Treat because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Animals infected with Salmonella could have symptoms including diarrhea that may be bloody, fever, and vomiting. Some dogs will have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Some pets will not have any symptoms but will be carriers of the pathogenic bacteria and can infect people. People can get sick by handling the product and not washing their hands or by petting an animal that is shedding the bacteria.

The 6″ Beef Trachea is Buster’s Natural Pet Supply brand, with lot code 8501450. The size is 6″ in 12 pack plastic pouches. The UPC number is 8501450. It was sold in retail stores in Conifer and Lakewood in Colorado.

If you purchased this product, use gloves, put it into a sealed container or doubled bag, and throw it away. Do not touch the product. If you do, wash your hands immediately with an antibacterial soap. You can return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.
