La Terra Fina Expands Recalls for Listeria Monocytogenes

La Terra Fina is expanding its recall of dips and spreads for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination to include another product. This firm has recalled several types of products in the past few days. No illnesses have been reported to date, but the illness caused by this bacteria can take up to 70 days to manifest.

La Terra Fina Spinach Artichoke Dip Listeria RecallThe newly recalled product is Chunky Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip & Spread in 10 ounce packages. The UPC number isĀ 6-40410-51327-3, the best by date is 4/5/15, and it was sold in the Midwest, West Coast, & Rocky Mountain regions of the United States.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Then clean out your refrigerator with a solution of 1 tablespoon bleach in 1 gallon of water to kill bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes can grow at refrigerator temperatures.

If you ate any of this product, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. They include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women are especially vulnerable to this bacteria, and may suffer miscarriage or stillbirth as a result, even though their illness is very mild. If you do get sick, see your doctor and tell her you ate this recalled product.
