Wegmans Ground Beef Recalled for Foreign Material

J&G Foods of Massachusetts is recalling 33,948 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with plastic materials. No reports of injuries have been received to date.

Ground Beef in White Container -Photographed on Hasselblad H3D-39mb CameraThe recalled products are “Wegman’s Organic 93% Lean/7% Fat Grass-Fed Ground Beef” in 1 pound vacuum sealed packages, and 3-packs containing three 1 pound packages of the same item. The products have the establishment number “EST. 8466” inside the USDA mark of inspection and “USE OR FREEZE BY 01/16/15”. They were shipped to retail locations in Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The ground beef was produced on December 23, 2014.

The firm received consumer complaints through retailers that the product contained small malleable plastic ices. If you purchased these items, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
