Chicken Tenders and Breaded Dark Meat Recalled for Undeclared Milk

Advance Pierre Foods, Inc., located in Portland, Maine, has recalled over 54,690 pounds of its chicken tenders and breaded dark meat chicken products. As reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), this Class I recall was issued because the chicken may the milk allergen, undeclared on the product labeling.

The chicken products affected by the recall, “CHICKEN TENDERS SEA SALT AND GROUND PEPPER” and “PREMIUM ENTRÉE TRADITIONAL SAGE RAW BREADED DARK MEAT CHICKEN” were distributed in the states of California, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. All packaging bears the establishment number “P-276” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The following products have been recalled:

  • “Chicken Tenders Sea Salt and Ground Pepper,” shipped in 12-pound packages containing 4 3-pound bags of chicken. The affected lots’ UPC codes are: 0970451101, 097801101, and 0971111101.
  • “Chicken Tenders Sea Salt and Ground Pepper,” shipped in 10-pound packages. The affected lots’ UPC codes are: 0971114002 and 0971441101.
  • “Premium Entrée Traditional Sage Raw Breaded Dark Meat Chicken with Homestyle Stuffing, shipped in 9-pound packages containing 36 pieces of chicken. The affected lot code is: 0971401101.

Advance Pierre learned of the possible presence of undeclared milk on June 6,2017, after an ingredient supplier alerted the company that the bread crumbs they distributed to the manufacturer might contain undeclared milk. “Class I” recalls mean that the risk for serious illness or death is high if someone allergic to the recalled product should ingest it. Individuals who have purchased the chicken should throw it away or return it to the store for a refund.Recalled Chicken Tenders
