Wayne Farms Recalls Cooked Chicken Products for Foreign Material

Wayne Farms of Decatur, Alabama is recalling about 438,960 pounds of frozen, fully cooked chicken products that may be contaminated with foreign material, posing a threat of injury or a choking hazard. More specifically, the products may contain metal pieces. No reports of injury or other adverse reactions have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

These products were produced on various dates from July 4 to July 17, 2018. You can see the list of recalled products at the USDA web site. The recalled products include Fully Cooked Diced Chicken, Chicken White Meat, FC Grill Chicken Meat, FC CKN White Meat Diced, Fully Cooked Grill Marked White Chicken Strips, Fully Cooked all natural diced seasoned white meat chicken, and Fully Cooked Grill Marked white meat chicken strips. The packaging numbers and product codes are on the chart at the USDA web site. The products have the establishment number “P-20214” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The recall was triggered by a customer complaint on July 27, 2018. Wayne Farms investigated to find out what the foreign material was, and notified FSIS of their findings on September 4, 2018. The items were shipped to distributors, restaurants, and other further processing locations throughout the country.

USDA thinks that some of this product may be frozen in freezers at consumers’ homes. If you have any of these products in your home, don’t eat them. Throw them away in a wrapped or sealed package, and put them into a secure garbage can. You can also take the chicken back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
