Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese Recalled For Foreign Material

Several varieties of Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese are being recalled because they may be contaminated with foreign materials, more specifically pieces of red plastic or metal that may have gotten into the product during production. This can pose a choking hazard, or can injury teeth, the mouth, throat, stomach, or intestines if the object is swallowed.

There have been six consumer complaints about the issue. But there have been no reports of illness or injury received to date. The cottage cheese was sent to retailers and distributors in the U.S. and exported to Latin America.

The recalled products include 16 ounce packages of Breakstone’s 2% Milkfat Lowfat Large Curd Cottage Cheese, packaged in a plastic cup with a plastic lid and shrink band. The case unit best when used by code date is Dec102019, the individual package best when used by code is 10 DEC 2019 W4 XX:XX 36-2158, and the individual package UPC number is 0 21000 30053 2.

Also recalled is 24 ounce packages of Breakstone’s 4% Milkfat Large Curd Cottage Cheese, also packed in a plastic cup with a plastic lid and shrink band. The case unit best when used by code date is Dec102019, the individual package best when used by code date is 10 DEC 2019 W4 XX:XX 36-2158, and the individual package UPC number is 0 21000 12285 1.

Finally, 24 ounce sizes of Breakstone’s 4% Milkfat Small Curd Cottage Cheese is recalled. It is also packed in a plastic cup with a plastic lid and shrink band. The case unit best when used by code date is also Dec102019, the individual package best when used by code date is 10 DEC 2019 W4 XX:XX 36-2158, and the individual package UPC number is 0 21000 12284 4. In total, 9,500 cases of the cottage cheese is recalled.

No other sizes, varieties, or code dates of Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese is recalled. If you purchased any of these products, don’t eat them. Throw them away in a secure garbage can, or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
