Funky Chunky Recalls Products for Undeclared Almonds and Cashews

Funky Chunky of Eden Prairie, Minnesota is recalling some of their products because they may contain undeclared almond and cashews. These are tree nuts, one of the eight categories of major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to those specific nuts could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. One allergic reaction has been reported.

The recalled products are 10 ounce Nutty Chocolate Pop Gift Box, 50 ounce Holiday Crowd Pleaser, and 50 ounce Crowd Pleaser. The products were distributed through direct delivery and mail order. These products were sold in Arizona, Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, NewYork, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

The product in those boxes that may have the undeclared allergens are a 10 ounce clear bag labeled Funky Chunky Nutty Choco Pop.  That product is in the Nutty Choco Pot Gift Box, which has lot code 8K30; in the 50 ounce Holiday Crowd Pleaser, which has lot code 8K29, and in the 50 ounce Crowd Pleaser, which has lot codes 8K13, 8k27, 8L04, 8L04, 8L07, and 8L11.

A consumer alerted the company to this issue. Product containing almonds and cashews was distributed in packaging that didn’t reveal those allergens.

If you bought any of these products and are allergic to almonds and cashews, don’t eat it. You can throw it away, or take the product back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
