Parivar Dry Dates Recalled For High Sulfite Content

Shivam Distributors of Longwood, Florida, is recalling certain package sizes and UPC numbers of Parivar Dry Dates for high sulfite content. Those products have the same lot number: 125/BIBT. This food additive can cause itchiness, upset stomach, headache, stiffness, diarrhea, cough, nausea and weakness. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recalled item.

These dates were distributed in Florida through retail grocery stores from May 2019 to October 2019. The recalled product is sold in 7 ounce and 14 ounce size packages. The batch number on the recalled product is #125/BIBT. The UPC number is 879111001844 for the 7 ounce package, and 879111001226 for the 14 ounce package. The UPC number is printed on the back of the bag.

This product was recalled after surveillance testing conducted by the Florida Department of Agriculture revealed the high sulfite content in the 7 ounce packages of the dates. Distribution of the product has ceased while the company conducts an investigation.

If you have purchased Parivar Dry Dates in either package size, do not eat it. Throw it away in a secure garbage can with a tight fitting lid, or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
